           Vietnam’s official name is The Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Capital city is Hanoi. Population of Vietnam is around 90 million. The country is bordered by China to the north, Laos to the northwest, Cambodia to the southwest, and Malaysia across the South China Sea to the southeast.

           Their national language is Vietnamese and popular foreign languages are English, French, Chinese, Japanese, Russian and German.

          Vietnam’s history goes by 4000 years ago. They did always struggle for their freedom and independence. From 111 B.C. to 939 A.C. Chinese feudalist put the pressure on Vietnams. From 1859 to 1945, it was colonized by France.  War starting at 1945 with World war II, and end at 1975 in Vietnam.  You will see the war effects while visiting Vietnam.


          Buddhism is the most popular religion in Vietnam. Taoism follow the Buddhism. Although they have different religions, Vietnam peoples general characteristic is same, such as hospitality, gentle, tolerance, humility, generous etc. They are always respecting their teachers, elders and authorities, they are always responsible for their families and society.

          Hanoi is the culturel and political capital and also the most important economic center. Ho Chi Minh city (old name is Saigon), is the first big city with 5 million population in Vietnam.

          Tropical climate have a command of central Vietnam and southern part. From November to April monsoon is distinctive at northeast. At most parts of the country winter season is dry only by comparison with the rainy or summer season. Temperatures vary less in the southern plains around Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta, ranging between 21 and 28 °C (69.8 and 82.4 °F) over the course of the year. Seasonal variations in the mountains and plateaus and in the north are much more dramatic, with temperatures varying from 5 °C (41.0 °F) in December and January to 37 °C (98.6 °F) in July and August.

          Since 1990s, Vietnam has become one of the major tourist destinations. There is a lot of historic monuments and scenic areas of tourist interest.
