Itinerary
DAY 1 Istanbul Izmir Ephesus Tour Kusadasi
Pick up from your central located in Istanbul Transfer to Airport for the flight to Izmir on arrival to izmir airport transfer to Selcuk for Ephesus tour.
Tour Starting visit House of Mother Mary on top of the mount of the Nightingale. It is believed that the Blessed Virgin spent her last years here. Then visit Temple of Artemis. It was one of the seven ancient Wonders of the World. Ephesus ruins, the best preserved ancient site in the World, which extends into the third millennium B.C the remains of this important city are standing miraculously today, vivid witnesses of a glorious past. Among the well preserved ruins the theatre, Celsus Library, Agora, Odeon, Domitian’s Temple, Trajan Fountain, Roman Latrine are the most remarkable. Lunch in Selcuk town, in the afternoon a visit to the carpet weaving demonstration to see how the Turkish carpets are made by hand . Overnight stay in Kusadasi. (L, D)
DAY 2 Pamukkale Day Tour
Today will be long day but interesting and enjoyable. In the morning drive to Pamukkale which takes about three hours. Pamukkale that has the meaning of the Cotton Castle in English once known as Hierapolis, famous for healing thermal / mineral Baths and beautiful snow-white “petrified waterfalls”. After lunch visit Hierapolis including the extraordinary preserved Necropolis, the main Street and Gates, the thermal Baths with hot springs, the Devil’s Hole, and the Great theater, Pamukkale terraces are made of Calcium travertine, a sedimentary rock deposited by water from the hot springs. In the location, there are 17 hot water springs in which the temperature ranges from 35 °C to 100 °C The water that emerges from the spring is transported 320 meters (1,050 ft.) to the head of the travertine terraces and deposits calcium carbonate on a section 60 to 70 meters long covering an expanse of 240 meters to 300 meters. Enjoy swimming or a therapeutic bath in a hotel pool’s hot spring mineral water. (B, L, D)
DAY 3 Pergamum Acropolis
Depart for Pergamon. Whose main function was social and cultural as much as it was sacred? Built on a conical hill rising 1,000 feet above the surrounding valley, Pergamum is home to two of the country’s most celebrated archaeological sites: Pergamum’s acropolis and Asclepion are both listed among the top 100 historical sites on the Mediterranean. We will see the famed library, the terrace of the spectacularly sited hillside theater, the main palace, the Altar of Zeus, and the propylaeum of the Temple of Athena. In the early Christian era, Pergamum’s church was a major center of Christianity and was one of the Seven Churches of Revelation.
